About

Brooklyn Heights Dispatch is an independent neighborhood news source for the people who live, work, and spend time in Brooklyn Heights, New York.

What we do

We surface the information that matters day-to-day: live transit data for nearby subway stations, public school updates, crime and safety incidents from NYPD reports, real estate listings, and a running feed of neighborhood news. We also publish original reporting, aggregate coverage from local outlets, and maintain a community calendar and classifieds board.

Why we exist

Most neighborhood news is scattered across social media, patchwork blogs, or paywalled publications. We believe the residents of Brooklyn Heights deserve a single, reliable source for local information — without invasive ads, clickbait, or algorithmic noise.

How we operate

The Dispatch is a small, independent project. We use open data sources (MTA, NYC Open Data, NYPD CompStat) and supplement them with original reporting and community submissions. We are not owned by a larger media conglomerate and we do not run programmatic advertising.
